Virgil M. Martin, age 68, of Ladoga, a former resident of the Covington community, died at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Cold Springs VA Hospital, Indianapolis, where he had been a patient since Aug. 3. He had been ill for several months. He was born April 16, 1896 at Marshall, Ind., the son of Lawrence and Lorena M. Ratcliff Martin. He was married Sept. 7, 1919 to Hazel Longacre, who survives. Mr. Martin was a veteran of World War I. He had been a farmer all of his life and for the past 35 years had farmed in the Ladoga area. Prior to that he farmed in this vicinity. He was a member of World War I Barracks 1164 of Ladoga. Surviving, in addition to his wife, is one brother, Clifford Martin of Veedersburg Rt. 2, and several nieces and nephews. The body is at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington where friends may call. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Glenn Ray, pastor of the Covington Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will be in Mt. hope Cemetery, Covington.  --typed by Walt W
