COVINGTON - Thomas Clifford Martin, age 73, a resident of Veedersburg Rt. 2, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29, in Lake View Memorial Hospital in Danville, Ill., where he had been admitted a short time earlier after suffering a heart attack.
Mr. Martin was born Dec. 3, 1893, the son of Lawrence and Lorena Ratcliff Martin.  He was married to Lois Thompson in 1915 and she preceded him in death in 1919.  In 1921 he was married to Marvel E. Osborne, who survives.
He was a member of the Kingman Methodist Church and Fountain Lodge 60, F&AM.  He was a life resident of Fountain County and he was a farmer, well known throughout the community.
Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: six daughters and sons: Mrs. Marjorie Sims of Monticello, William C., Mrs. Margaret Bogart and Thomas O., all of Covington Rt. 3, Mrs, Robert (Rosemary) Hunt of Veedersburg Rt. 2 and Harold L. of Danville, Ind., 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Masonic rites were conducted at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here Sunday evening.  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  The Rev. P. j. Hamilton, pastor of the Covington Methodist Church, officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery here. - jz
