Veedersburg, Dec 26 – A fire in his apartment at Muncie, took the life of Theodore L. Martin, 87, a retired printer and a former resident of Veedersburg. Mr. Martin who had recently suffered a light paralytic stroke was confined to his bed. He is believed to have been smoking in bed and was unable to escape the flames when the bed clothing became ignited. Mr. and Mrs. John Stephens who occupied the first floor of the dwelling were not at home when the fire started. A cocker spaniel dog ran into the room and perished. Mr. Martin, the father of Mrs. J. Glenn Crane of the city made his home here with her for several years. Funeral services were held at Muncie Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Crane and daughter Patty and Mrs. Wilda Grimes attended the service. – kbz
