WEST POINT — Robert "Bob" A. Martin, 79, West Point, died at 1:52 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007 in the emergency room of Home Hospital, Lafayette. He was born June 1, 1927 in Lafayette, the son of Robert L. and Verna Deloris (Long) Martin. He married Della Imogene “Jeanne” Doyle Aug. 15, 1945. She preceded in death May 1, 1981. He was raised in Lafayette, moving to the farm near West Point at the age of eight. He attended both Vine and West Point Schools and had lived all of his life in the West Point area. He formerly worked on the family farm, later working for Tippecanoe County Highway Department. He was the warehouse manager for Sears Warehouse until his retirement in 1978. He did a lot of traveling. He especially enjoyed getting together with his family. Survivors include: his companion of 25 years, Jeannette Eaton; two daughters, Jackie (Don) Allen, West Point and Kim (companion David VanHook) Meyer, Wingate; three step sons, Chuck Eaton, Elkhart, Lee (Kathy) Allen, Oxnard, Calif., and Wayne Allen, Champaign, Ill.; four brothers, James W. Martin, West Point, Harry Clifford "Cliff' (Brenda) Martin, Attica, Claude “Bud” B. Martin, West Point, and Russell D. "Donnie” (companion Julie) Martin, Attica; five grandchildren, Tami Allen, Donnie (Angela) Allen, Stephanie Meyer, Stacey Meyer and Scott Meyer; four step grandchildren, Chris (Debbie) Allen, Matt Allen, Jason Eaton and Chaz Eaton; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Seth, Tristen and MacKinze Allen. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth L. Martin; two sisters, Carol I. White and Evelyn M. Eaglehoff, and a step grandson, Josh Eaton. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with Pastor Virginia Nead officiating. Burial was in West Point Cemetery.
