MARTIN, Raymond - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Covington – Raymond Martin, 87 of Covington died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday May 4, 2008 in St Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville.  Born June 17, 1920 in Covington he was the son of the late Jesse and Bertha Martin.  He was a 1938 graduate of Perrysville HS.  He married Rosetta Brookshire on Dec 29, 1946 and she died April 20, 2002.  Mr.  Martin farmed most of his life, was employed at Illinois Power Co for 30 years and he and his wife operated a flower shop 13 years. He served in the Army from 1939 to 1945.  He was a member of Coopers Chapel Baptist Church and Walter Hoyt American Legion Post 350 and was an active 4-H leader. Surviving are five children, Sandra Auter (husband Ed) of Covington; Donna Beck of Veedersburg; Valli Lee Haines (husband Tom) of Danville, Ill; Bruce A. Martin (wife Latauna) of Veedersburg; Ann Brewer (husband Darrin) of Mooresville, NC and a sister, Judith Smalley of Danville, Ill. Services are Wednesday in Veedersburg. - kbz
