MARTIN, Nettie Kilby

Source: The obituary is from a collection by Fauniel Hershberger, saved the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Mrs. Nettie Martin, 68, of 625 Commercial, died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 20, 1971) at St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she had been admitted an hour earlier. Mrs. Martin had been in ill health since Sept. 3, but death was unexpected. A lifetime Danville resident, she was born Feb. 1, 1903 at Grape Creek, daughter of John and Maggie Hutchinson Kilby. She was married to Seth S. Martin at Covington, Ind., in 1941. He died on Dec. 29, 1965. Surviving are four brothers, Clarence and John Kilby, both of Cayuga, Ind., Walter and Louis Kilby, both of Danville; and three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Campbell of Danville, Mrs. Vera Tornquist of Covington, and Mrs. Mary Waters of Catlih. She was also preceded in death by a sister. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Free Methodist Church. She obtained her schooling at the Hawbuck community near Grape Creek. Her hobby was fishing. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lakeside Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Casper Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Atherton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. - jlr
