Death an unwelcome messenger always brings sadness but there are often many circumstances which make its advent into the home especially pathetic.  Such was true when it was learned Tuesday afternoon that Lois Thompson wife of Clifford Martin had passed away at their home east of this city after but a 7-day illness from the flu which later resulted in pneumonia, taking with her a six months babe, born only an hour or so before her own death.  The entire family of four, the father, mother, little four year old Margery and Master Willie but two were all ill with the flu at the same time, all but the mother getting well but she grew steadily worse and went away about 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. Lois was 24 years old, the only daughter of the late William Thompson and Mrs. Ollive Thompson now Mrs. France and was united in marriage May 14, 1915 to LC Martin to whom two children, Margery and William were born and whom with her mother and one brother survive her.  The funeral services conducted by Rev. Kern were held from the farm home east of town where they resided at 2 p.m. Thursday interment following in Mt. Hope cemetery.  The sympathies of all go out to the bereaved.   - kbz
