Laura Katheryn ‘Kate’
Martin, 87, of Kingman, died at 8:25 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2000 in Castle
Shannon Care Center, Rockville. Born in Kingman on September 24, 1912, she was
the daughter of Charles Thomas and Samantha Jane (Summers) Norris. She married
Lenard O. Martin on April 2, 1948 in Danville, Ill. He preceded her in death in
1989. Surviving, are: four nieces, Betty Eades, Judy Norris and Virginia
Newnum, all of Rockville and Billie Ann Peters of Tampa, Fla.; four nephews,
Richard Cox of Cedarbluff, Ala., Bob Norris of Crawfordsville, Jerry Cox of
Somerset, Ky. and Burl Norris of Rockville; several great-nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Martin was
a former employee of Chuckles Candy Co. in Danville for approximately 20 years.
Visitation was Saturday at Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg. Service there
on Sunday with Rev. Kenneth Majors officiating. Interment in Kingman Fraternal
Cemetery, Kingman. – jlr
