Attica – James “Dewey” Martin, 83, formerly of 101 Water St, Attica, died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday in Houston Health Center, Clarks Hill. He had been a patient there since November 1977.  A painter and contractor in the Attica area, Mr. Martin had spent most of his life in Fountain County.  He was born April 22, 1903 in Sterling, Ind. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Jim (Katheryn) Shaw of Cloverdale, Ind; Mrs. Raymond 9Betty) Pearson of Danville Ill; Mrs. Ralph (Judy) Bodle of Monticello and Mrs. Keith (Carol) Lester of West Lafayette; two sons, Larry Martin of New Concord, Ky and James Martin of Pensacola, Fla and one sister, Mrs. Dollie M. Shaw of Lafayette.

Funeral Services – MARTIN, James “Dewey” – Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Funeral Home. Service 1 p.m. Wednesday, Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, the Rev. Larry A. Johnson officiating. Interment 3 p.m. Cold Springs Cemetery, Fountain County. Surviving are 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Two sons, Lester and Virgil Martin preceded in death. Those desiring may contribute in memorial to charity of choice.
