MARTIN, Hepzibah

Source: Covington Republic 13 March 1908

Hepsiah Martin, one among the oldest residents of Covington, died at her home in the north east part of the city at 12:30 Monday. The end came peacefully, after a weeks illness from the grippe and the infirmities of age. She was 82 year of age, had always lived in Covington and was the wife of the late J.R. Martin who died some ten years ago. But one child, Samuel Martin, of this city, survives her, one child dying in infancy. Sam has always lived near his mother and looked after her wants in her declining years. Mrs. Martin, or "Aunt Hepsiah" as she was familiarly known, for years has been a member of the Christian Church, and did what she could to lighten the burdens of life of those around her. Sweet will be her gentle rest, after a long life of care and toil. The funeral services were conducted from her home at 2 pm. Wednesday, by Elder Alva Clark, following which internment was made in Mt. Hope cemetery, by loving hands. Thus is another old citizen gone to her reward and to that rest which remaineth to the people of God.
