Tilton, Ill.—Eldie C. Martin, 70, Tilton, died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 1989, at United Samaritans Medical Center, Danville, Ill.
He was born May 4, 1919, in McKinney, Ky., the son of Jesse L. and Laura Brock Martin. He was married June 3, 1943 to Fontella Wagner, who survives.
He had worked at Musebeck Shoe Company for four years, then six years at Hegeler Zinc Co. On June 5, 1946, he joined Meadow Gold and worked there for 33 years before retiring. He drove “truck 13”, which covered the Lake Boulevard and Denvale area, as well as Rossville and the area including State Line, Hedrick, Ind., and Alvin and Bismarck, Ill. He retired as a driver salesman.
He was a member of Danville Moose Lodge 1001 and Teamsters Union Local 26.
He enjoyed spending time working in his garden and working with wood. He also enjoyed fishing.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. John (Donna) Pelszynski, Tilton; two grandchildren, Darrin and Jennifer; a brother, Chester, Catlin, Ill., and niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and a brother.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Barrick & Son Guardian Chapel with Pastor John Taylor officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. -s
