Edward William Martin, 84, a retired farmer and life resident of Fountain County, died at 6 p.m. Saturday at the home of a son in Indianapolis.
Born March 4, 1877 in Fountain County, Ind., he was the son of John S. and Tursey Jane Alkire Martin. He was married March 6, 1901 to Beth May Price, and she preceded hi\n in death Feb. 23, 1951.
Survivors include four children, Mrs. Edith Purr of Indianapolis, Mrs. Ruby Hayman of Veedersburg Route 3, John E. Martin of Indianapolis, Raymond W. Martin of Cartersburg, Ind.; a sister, Mrs, Virgie Trott of Veedersburg Route 2; 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and two children.
Services were at 2 p.m. (EST) Monday at the Salem Methodist Church. The Rev. Dale Owens officiated with burial in Osborn Prairie Cemetery. - jz
