COVINGTON, Ind. (CNS) -- Charles Martin, 88, a resident of Covington for 30 years, died at 1 a.m. Friday (March 5, 1971) in his home at 513 Crockett St. He had been ill one month. Born Aug. 8, 1883, at French Lick, he was the son of William and Sarah Morgan Martin. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cenie Roach Martin, and by his second wife, Flora Zimmerman Martin. Four sisters and three brothers also preceded him in death. Surviving is his third wife, Alta Ratliff Ricketts Martin. They were married July 7, 1955. Other survivors include a son, Rufus Martin of Republic, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Borgeson of Chicago, Ill.; one grandson; and two sisters, Mrs. Nora Lashbrook of Cloverdale, and Mrs. Rose Lashbrook of Phoenix, Ariz. Mr. Martin had been employed as a painter. He retired in 1962. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Sunday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, with the Rev. Edgar Allen officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday. --typed by Walt W

Covington - Funeral services for Charles Martin, age 87, of 513 Crocket Street, who died at 1 a.m. Friday, March 5 at his home, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. The Rev. Edgar Allen officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr. Martin, who had been ill one month, was born Aug. 8, 1883 at French Lick, Ind., the son of William and Sara Morgan Martin. He had been a resident of Covington for 30 years. He was a painter and he retired in 1962. He had been married three times, first to Cenie Roach, then to Flora Zimmerman and last to Alta Ratcliff Macy Ricketts, whom he married July 7, 1955. Survivors include the wife: one son, Rufus Martin of Republic, Mich., one daughter, Mrs. Blanche Borgeson of Chicago, Ill.; one grandson, Dallas Martin of Antonagon, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Lashbrook of Cloverdale and Mrs. Rose Lashbrook of Phoenix, Ariz.
