Funeral services for Charles Martin, age 93, of Perrysville, a retired farmer and life resident of Fountain and Vermillion counties, were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, Jan. 6, at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Glenn Ray, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Covington, officiated and burial was in the Cold Springs Cemetery, north of Veedersburg. Mr. Martin died at 9:10 p. m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, where he had been a patient since Dec. 24. He was born May 2, 1868 in Fulton Twp., Fountain County, the son of Wilson and Mary Abernathy Martin. He was married in 1898 to Mattie Ann Asbury and July 28, 1945 to Della Mae Shipps, who survives. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are: one son, Dewey Martin of Attica; one daughter, Mrs. Dolly Shaw of Gary; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Martin of Blackwell, Okla., and Sam Martin of Danville, Ill., and two sisters, Mrs. Melissa Smail and Mrs. Bessie Keller, both of Covington. He was preceded in death by three children, three brothers and one sister. Pallbearers were: Albert Grimes, Charles Wagner, Richard Martin, Robert Martin, Basil Martin and Paul Martin.  -- typed by Walt W
