COVINGTON, Ind. (CNS) - Thomas L. Marsh, 72, of Covington Route 2, died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday (June 8, 1969) at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., where he had been a patient eight days. Born April 17, 1897 in Warren County, he was the son of Daniel and Virginia Smiley Marsh. On July 13, 1917 he married Ruth Martin who preceded him in death Aug. 10, 1954. Mr. Marsh had lived on Covington Route 2 for 23 years. He had formerly lived in Danville 24 years. He was a retired boiler foreman at the C & EI Shops in Danville. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Veedersburg, Fountain Lodge No. 60 F & AM at Covington, and the Scottish Rite and Zorah Shrine, both of Terre Haute, Surviving are a daughter, LaVerne, at home; a brother, Donald of Chicago, Ill.; and three sisters, Mrs. Leah Smiley of Danville, Mrs. Boyd (Katherine) Kirk of Rossville, and Mrs. Herschel (Prudence) Durr of Alvin. Services will be at 4 p.m. EDT Wednesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. tomorrow. Masonic services will be conducted at the funeral home 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. - jlr

He was the son of Daniel and Virginia Smiley Marsh.  He was married to Ruth Martin on July 13, 1917, and she preceded him in death Aug. 10, 1954.
Surviving are one daughter, LaVerne Marsh, at home; one brother, Donald, of Chicago; three sisters, Mrs, Leah Smiley, Danville, Mrs. Boyd Kirk, Rossville, Ill.; Mrs. Hershell Durr, Alvin, Ill.
He had been a resident of Rt. 2, Covington for 23 years.  He was formerly a boiler foreman at the C&EI shops in Danville, and retired several years ago.  He was a member of United Methodist Church of Veedersburg, Fountain Lodge No. 60, Scottish Rite of Terre Haute and the Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Williams officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.  Masonic rites were held at the funeral home Tuesday night. - jz
