WILLIAMSPORT — Robert E. Marquess, 84, Williamsport, died at 4:16 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2006 in St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. He was born Sept. 2, 1922 near Williamsport, the son of William Reed and Lola Pearl (Bush) Marquess. He married Bertie Lou Marsh Sept. 21, 1957 in Mendon, Ill. She survives. He was a 1941 graduate of Williamsport High School. He previously lived in Kentucky, Evansville, Chicago, Williamsport, Newtown and settled again in Williamsport in 1994. He was an over-the-road driver for 38 years. He also served in the U. S. Air Force. He attended the Williamsport Christian Church and was a member of the American Legion Post #259. He loved to read, work out in his garden, and traveling. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a daughter, Barbara Ann (Terry) Walsh, Indianapolis; two granddaughters, Karrie Lynn Hill, Lebanon and Michelle Lee Vetters, Aurora, Colo.; three great-grandsons, Robbie, Justin and Dominic; a niece, Sandra Kingery, Veedersburg; a nephew, Bill Marquess, Newtown; several great nephews and great nieces; and good friends, Marilyn and Ed Briles and family. He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Marquess. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday in Grady Funeral Home, Williamsport, with the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Williamsport. Memorial donations may be made to the Williamsport-Washington Township Public Library Building Fund. – jlr
