MARQUESS, George - Vet

George L. Marquess of Crawfordsville passed away Sunday morning in Ben-Hur Health at the age of 92.

George served his country in the U.S. Army from Feb. 1953 to Jan. 1955, stationed in England.  He was a machinist and auto mechanic, working for NAPA for several years.  He had the ability to fix anything mechanical.  He was a graduate of Tangier High School.  He was a long-time faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church.  George was a sweet, kind-hearted man that never knew a stranger and will be missed by those who knew him.

Born Aug. 2, 1932 in Fountain County, he was the son of Glenn H. Marquess and Emma Lawson Marquess.  He married Shirley Nolen Marquess on March 7, 1952 in Kingman.  She passed away August 16, 2011.

Surviving family includes: son, Charles Marquess of Crawfordsville; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM Friday, September 6th at Burkhart Funeral Home.  Services will begin at 1 PM, led by Pastor Chris Hortin.  Burial with military rites will follow at Rush Creek Cemetery in Tangier.
