MARQUESS, Emma Lawson

WINGATE. - Mrs. Emma Lavania Marquess, 89, of Wingate, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday (July 25, 1978 ) at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. She was a member of the Covington United Methodist Church and Wingate United Methodist Women's Club. She formerly had resided in Covington, Portland Arch and Tangier. Born May 2, 1889, she was a daughter of Gustaf and Josephine Anderson Lawson. On March 6, 1907, near Stone Bluff, she married Glenn Marquess, who died Oct. 21, 1963. Survivors include two sons, George and Carl, both of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Elsie) Hodges of Perrysville and Mrs. William (Ida Lois) Stonecipher of New Richmond; two brothers, Paul Lawson of Hereford, Texas, and Leon Lawson of Happy, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Leah Armstrong of Whittier, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bodine-Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. - jlr
