Wingate — (CNS) --- William Marmaduke, 82, retired grocer and life resident of the Wingate and Newtown communities, died at 3:45 p. m. Thursday (June 7, 1951) at his home following a heart attack. He had been in failing health since last September. Mr. Marmaduke was born Apr. 1, 1869 near Newtown, the son of Reuben and Martha Beckley Marmaduke. He was married June 29, 1914 to Blanche Thompson, who survives. He had been a resident of Wingate since 1891 where he was a tailor until 1915 when he accepted the position of postmaster from 1915 to 1923. In 1924 he entered the grocery business and operated a store for 27 years until his retirement a few months ago. He is also survived by a son, Rex of Indianapolis; a brother, Roy A. of LaMesa, Calif., and two grandchildren. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. The body was returned to the family residence Friday where it will remain for services at 3 p. m. (DST) Saturday. The Rev. H. L. McBride will officiate. Burial will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery at Wingate with the Dickerson Funeral Home of Stockwell, Ind., in charge.  --Typed by Walt W
