Bishop Asbury MARCRUM, 93, father of Mrs. Theron S. Banta died at the home of another daughter, Mrs. Verne Remley in the Wesley community Sunday afternoon Oct 2. Mr. Marcrum had only been ill six days. He was born Feb 20, 1856 in Pulaski, County, Tennessee the son of Jesse and Sarah Eli Marcrum. He married Mary Elizabeth Nelson at Elden, Ky Oct 31, 1878. They would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this month. Mr. Marcrum was a farmer until a number of years ago upon his retiring. He was a member of the Liberty Christian Church, NE of Waynetown. In addition to his 91 years old widow, Mr. Marcrum is survived by a son, Edgar of W. Milford, W Va; 3 daughters, Mrs Ida Lowe, Crawfordsville, Mrs. Etta Banta of Waveland and Mrs. Remley at whose home he died. Also, he leaves 23 grandchildren, 32 greats and 3 great greats. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon 2:30 at Liberty Christian Church, Rev. Guy Walters of Mellott in charge. Interment w as made in the cemetery adjacent to the church. - transcribed by kbz

Waynetown Oct 2 - Bishop Asbury Marcrum, 93, retired farmer died Sunday afternoon at the home of his daughter in Wesley community. Born in Kentucky, he was married to Mary Nelson in 1878. They would have been married for r71 years at the end of this month.  He was a member of the Liberty Christian Church. Surviving are the widow; one son, Edgar of West Milford, W VA and three daughters: Mrs. Ida Lowe of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Etta Banta of Waveland and Mrs. Verne Remley, at whose home he died.
