Henry Goble Manning, 56, Rt. 3, Covington, died at 10:35 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1, in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill, where he had been a patient six days. Mr. Manning was employed for 16 years in the furniture department of Sears at Danville, Ill., until he suffered a stroke a year ago. He was formerly employed for many years by L. F. Miller Co. of Danville. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Air Force for five years. A resident of near Covington since 1946, he formerly lived at Veedersburg. Mr. Manning was a graduate of Veedersburg High School. Born Feb. 3, 1916, in Fleming County, Ky., he was the son of Asa and Ninnie Mae Claypool Manning. He was married July 16, 1946, to Maxine “Pat” Kissack, who survives. Also surviving are his mother of Rt. 3, Veedersburg; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Cinda) Tanner of Rt. 3, Covington; and two brothers, Curtis of Rt. 4, Veedersburg, and Hillard of Rt. 3, Veedersburg. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter. Services were held Thursday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert H. Miller officiating. Burial was in Mt.
