NEWTOWN, Ind. (CNS) --- Services were at the Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home in Francesville for Wendall L. Mann, 53, of Francesville, a former resident of Newtown. Mr. Mann died of injuries received in the tornado that struck Rochester April 3. He died April 8 at the South Bend Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Harry Shewmaker officiated, with burial in the Roseland Cemetery near Francesville. Mann and his son, Lewis of DeMotte were leaving Rochester in their semi truck when it was hit by the tornado. The truck rolled over six times up hill. Born in Tippecanoe County, he was a graduate of Central Normal College at Danville, Ind. He had been a music teacher and he and his family resided in Newtown from 1950 to 1954 when he was director of music for the Richland Township School. He had retired from school teaching. He was married in 1942 to Donna Cox, who survives. He was a member of the Francesville United Methodist Church, was an officer in the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend and Rensselaer Chapter of 408. He was a veteran of World war II and a past commander of the Jesse Engle American Legion Post 228. Also surviving are two grandchildren. One son preceded him is death. The son Lewis injured with his father still remains in a serious condition with internal injuries in Rensselaer. He was a nephew of Luther Mann of Newtown. --typed by Walt W
