Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Barrick & Son Funeral Home for Russell D. Mann, 78, of 2309 1/2 Cannon. He died 12:10 a.m. Wednesday March 14, 1979 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He had been a patient there two days and ill some time. Pastor Charles Jacobs will officiate with burial in Sunet Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Further Light Lodge will conduct Masonic services 8 p.m. today. Mann retired in November 1967 after working 47 years with Chicago & Eastern Ill RR in Oaklawn shops. He was a member of Old Rails & New Ties. Mann received a 50-year-pin for membership in the Further Light Masonic Lodge in april 1976. He also was a 32nd degree member of the Danville Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church. His hobbies were painting and woodcarving. Born March 3, 1901 in Fountain County, Ind he was a son of Acie & Bertha Drake Mann. He married Edna Cassady Adams in Danville Aug 27, 1960. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, George A. Mann, San Jose, California and Louis Mann of Danville; a daughter, Mrs. Fauniel Harding of Brunswick, OH; a stepson, Leslie Adams of Danville; three brothers, Paul Mann of Veedersburg, Ind and Robert and Ward Mann of Kingman; three sisters, Miss Nola Mann and Mrs. C.J. (*Pauline) Masters both of Danville; and Mrs. Edward (Grace) Leonard of Champaign; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His first wife, Aletha died in November 1959. A grandson and brother preceded him in death. Some information in a story of Mann in Wednesday's Commercial-News was incorrect.
