Paul Whitt Mann of RR 4, Veedersburg, age 74, died Thursday afternoon, February 18 (1982), at his home. He was born near Cates, August 23, 1907, the son of Asa M. and Bertha Ellen Drake Mann. May 26, 1938, he married Maxine Reed, who survives. An active member of Veedersburr United Methodist Church, he was a past master of Richland Masonic Lodge at Newtown and past patron of Newtown OES, both of which had presented him 50-year membership pins. He was also a member of Indianapolis Scottish Rite, Covington Knights of Pythias and Wallace Low 12 Club. Mann graduated from Kingman HS and attended Purdue University. He was the first president of the Fountain County Purdue Ag Alumni, served as soil and water conservation supervisor for 8 years, was a Fountain County councilman and county commissioner. He was a farm manager near Newtown for several years and farmed and sold seed corn for 39 years. He was a director of Hub Savings & Loan and was a past president of Veederburg Lions Club. Also surviving are a daughter, Paula Smith of Indianapolis; a son, Reed of Indianapolis; three sisters, Nola Mann and Pauline Masters, both of Danville, Illinois and Grace Leonard of Champaign, Illinois; two brothers, Robert and Ward, both of Kingman and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Veedersburg United Methodist Church with Rev. James Bushfield officiating. Burial was in Bonebrake Cemetery near Veedersburg. Dickerson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. -- kbz
