BERTHA E. DRAKE MANN,  daughter of David H. and Ruth E. Drake, was born August 6, 1881;  departed this life May 25, 1915, aged 33 years, 9 months and 19 days.    She was of a family of ten children , all of whom survive except onesister, Mary, who was called to that Great Beyond several years ago.   Her mother preceded her in death some 2 years ago.  Bertha E. Drake was married to Asa Mann Nov 5, 1898.  To this union 8 children were born, all of whom survive except Frank Cleo, who departed  this life  Dec. 28, 1906.  Those who survive are,  Russell D.,  Nola,  Pauline,  Paul, Gracie,  Robert  and  Ward.  She was born where the town of Kingman is now situated and has always lived in the immediate vicinity, receiving her education at the Harveys-burg school. She became a member of the U. B. church at Cates in a meeting conducted by Rev. John Newman some eight years ago.  Through family worship at home last April, peace came to her soul.  Several days before her demise she made her wishes known in regard to her funeral services, and said that she would like to live to take care of her children, but if it was the Lord’s will she was ready to go, and made the statement several times that she wishes Jesus would come before the close of day or if in the evening that He would come before morning.   In bidding the children good bye, she said she would love to press a kiss upon them, but she could only press a loving caress.

Funeral services were conducted at the Harveysburg church on Thursday at 11 o’clock by Rev. Higgenbotham,   pastor of the U. B. church at West Terre Haute, assisted by Rev. McHargue of Kingman.- S
