Covington, Ind. (CNS) —Mrs. Ladoska Maffett, 89, died at 8:45 p.m. yesterday (Feb. 2, 1967) at the Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. She had been a patient there two days and had been ill a year. Born Jan. 26, 1878, in Fountain County, she was the daughter of Henry C. and Eliza Jane Minor Dearing. She was married Oct. 21, 1897, to Elmer C. Maffett, who died Oct. 30, 1965. Mrs. Maffett resided in Veedersburg until the death of her husband. Since that time, she has resided with a daughter, Mrs. Eva M. Grubb of Covington. They spend the winters at Ft. Myers, Fla. Survivors include her daughter; two sisters, Mrs. Zaola Pattengale of Warsaw and Mrs. Elizabeth Reed Long of Hillsboro; 3 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Sunday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. James Dyson will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home. Mrs. Ladoska Maffett, age 89, a resident of Covington and former resident of Veedersburg died Friday night Feb 5 in Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. She had been in ill health for the past year and had been confined to nursing homes since last June. Mrs. Maffett was born Jan 26, 1878 in Fountain County the daughter of Henry C. and Eliza Jean Minor Dearing. She was married Oct 21, 1879 (sic) to Elmer C. Maffett who preceded her in death Oct 30, 1965. She had been a resident of Veedersburg until her husband’s death. Since the she had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Theodore (Eva M) Grubb in Covington and North Fort Myers, Fla. Surviving in addition to her daughter are two sisters Mrs. Zaola Pattengale of Warsaw and Mrs. Elizabeth Long of Hillsboro; three grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. The Rev. James Dyson officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. – kbz
