John Madigan, a highly esteemed and properous farmer of Veedersburg, died at his home Friday morning. He had been ill for the past year with complications. Previous to his last illness he had been in declining health. At the age of two years, Mr. Madigan came to this country from County Limerick, Ireland. His parents, James and Ellen Quilham Madison left their native land to settle in America. They established a hojme in Fountain County north of Veedersburg where two sisters and a brother still reside. Following the occupation of a farmer, Mr. Madigan became quite successful. His advice along thse lines was sought by many men and was freely given. As a citizen he ranked high with everyone who knew him. Mr. Madigan was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Veedersburg. He was 86 years of age. On Feb 5, 1908, he united in marriage to Nellie McComas, of Covington. The widow with three brothers, James, Thomas and William and two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Gooks and Mrs. Biddie Chapman all of Veedersburg, are survivalls. Funeral services were held Monday morning at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Covington. Burial was made at hte Prescott Grove Cemetery near Covington.
