Attica - Mark Maddux, 86, widely known farmer died at 5:30 a.m. Monday in the Community Hospital at Williamsport. Mr. Maddux also operated the Attica stockyards until his retirement from business 15 years ago. He was born Sept 13, 1879 at Philo, Ill. He was married to Jennie VanCleave who survives. He belonged to the Wingate Masonic Lodge. Other survivors include a grandson, Richard Maddux of Wingate and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at DeSutter Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Louis Haskell in charge. Burial in Riverside Cemetery.

Source: The obituary is from a collection by Fauniel Hershberger, saved the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

ATTICA -- Mark Maddux, 86, of 505 N. 5th St., died at 5:30 a. m. Monday in Community Hospital, Williamsport, after an illness of several months. He had been hospitalized one day. Born in Philo, Ill., he was a retired farmer and former owner and operator of the Attica Stockyards. He retired in 1950. He was a member of the Wingate Masonic Lodge. His marriage in 1940 in Rockville was to Jennie Van Cleave, the only near survivor.  --typed by Walt W
