Mrs. Mary Maddox of 914 Second, Covington, died unexpectedly at 3 a.m. today (June 26, 1969) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. The body is at the Hegg Funeral Home. Arrangements are incomplete. Services will be at 2 p.m. (EDT) Saturday at the Hegg Funeral Home for Mrs. Mary Ann Maddox, 76, of 914 Second. She died Thursday at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. John Morand will be the reader and burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 today. Mrs. Maddox, a life resident of Covington and a practical nurse, had been ill a week and seriously ill a day. Born Dec. 24, 1892 at Covington, she was the daughter of Lewis and Ida May Hickman. (Note: this is incorrect - she was the daughter of Lewis and Ida May Hickman Hayden). She married Arthur Bailey in 1911. He died in 1934 and she married Eugene Maddox in 1940, who preceded her in death in 1941. Mrs. Maddox was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist at Danville. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edalene Pritchard of Covington Route 1; a son, Jack Bailey Brown of Danville, Ill., a sister, Mrs. Wayne Barker of Veedersburg Route 2; two brothers Jack Hayden of Covington and Lavon Baer of Mira Loma, Calif.; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son and a brother.

COVINGTON - Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ann Maddox, age 76, of 914 Second St., Covington, who died Thursday, June 26, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Ill., were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hegg Funeral Home here. Robert A. Johnson, Champaign, Ill. was the reader and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. Idalene Pritchard of Covington Rt. 1; a foster son Jack Bailey Brown of Danville, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Wayne Barker of Veedersburg Rt. 2; two brothers, John Hayden of Covington and Lavon Baer of Mira Loma, Calif.; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son and one brother.
