Graveside rites for Mrs. Mabel B. Madden, age 75, of LaSalle, widow of the late Claude P. Madden, a former mayor of Danville, were held today, Wednesday, at 3 p.m. in Mt. Hope Cemetery here. The Maddens were former residents of Covington. The Rev. Glen Ray officiated. Mrs. Madden died Sunday afternoon, Aug. 18, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. John Kendrick, 748 Seventh St., LaSalle, following a long illness. She was born in Blackbourne, Ohio, the daughter of Conrad and Mary Butcher. Surviving in addition to the daughter are a granddaughter and two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Schneider of Columbus, Ohio and Mrs. Vergia Fox of Richmond. She was preceded in death by a son, Conrad and daughter, Virginia, in addition to Mr. Madden. The Shimkus-Helmer Funeral Home, 717 Fifth St., LaSalle, was in charge of the arrangements. --typed by Walt W
