Lindley J. Madden, age 33, a traveling engineer for the Northern Indiana Public Utilities Company, a son of Col. A.G. Madden of Cates and a brother of Mayor Claude P. Madden of Danville, died at 8:50 o'clock Monday night at Home Hospital in Lafayette. He was removed to the hospital from his home in LaFayette and underwent an operation for gallstones the following day, the second for that ailment in four years. The deceased was born in Kingman, thefourth of five sons born to Anson G. and Sylvania Madden. His mother died when he was 9 years old and he was reared with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Lindley of Kingman. He was a graduate of LaFayette grade and high school and of a business college and had been an employee of the utilities company since 1919. Besides the widow and daughter, Linadine age 8, his foster parents, the father and four brothers survive. The latter are Fred and George Madden of Indianapolis, Glenwood of Columbus, Ohio and Mayor Madden of Danville. He was a member of the Methodist Church and Knights of Pythias Lodge.
