MADDEN, Clair Bowsher

Mrs. Clair Madden, 75 died at 10 a.m. Friday November 23 at the home of her son, Dr. A G Madden in Maderia Ohio. She had been ill for several months following an operation in the late summer. Mrs. Madden was born south of Kingman February 25, 1876, the daughter of Sylvester and Marilda Baccus Bowsher. She was married to Anson G. Madden who preceded her in death October 30, 1948. She had always made her home in this community until she went to live with her son when she became ill. She was a member of the Fountain Chapter OES, the Kingman Methodist Church and Woman's Society of Christian Service and the Mill Creek Home Economics Club. Surviving are the son, Dr. AG Madden, one brother, Carl Bowsher of Los Angeles, Calif; two stepsons, Fred and George Madden of Indianapolis and two granddaughters and a great grandson. The body was brought to the residence in Kingman Saturday. Funeral services were held at the Kingman Methodist Church at 2 Monday afternoon with Rev. Guy Carpenter officiated with burial in Kingman Fraternal Cem with Spencer Funeral Home in charge. -kz

Mrs. Nellie Claire Madden, former resident of Kingman and Covington died this morning in Cincinnati. She was 75.  Mrs. Madden is the stepmother of George Madden, publicity director of Block’s and Fred L. Madden of the Central Fuel Co. Mrs. Madden was the wife of the late AG Madden, a western Indiana auctioneer.  She was a member of the Kingman Methodist Church and 50-year member of OES. She went to Cincinnati early in the fall to make her home with a son, Dr. AG Madden, Jr. at whose residence she died. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Kingman Methodist Church. Burial will be in Harveysburg Cemetery there.  Other survivors include 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. - kz
