MACEY, Charles Edward - lost sea WWII
THREE GREAT ladies and wonderful genealogists saved many old obituaries and put them into a binder – they let me use them for the GenWeb page – thanks so much to Fauniel Hershberger; Claudine Yerkes and Betty Dotson (my adopted 2nd mom – loved that lady) – these were mostly mid 1940s deaths but no dates or newspapers are noted.
Mrs. Alta Rocketts (Ricketts?) of Covington has been notified by the War Department that her son, Charles Edward Macey, member of the US Navy had been declared dead. His body was washed overboard the SS Joseph N. Nicolet Jan 14, 1944 during heavy seas in the North Atlantic. Because of the length of time that has elapsed without locating the sailor, it is presumed he met his death at that time. – kbz
