Clark’s Hill – LeRoy C. Furr, 72 of 11714 County Road, 975 E., died at 4 p.m. Saturday Aug 10 in the emergency room at Home Hospital in Lafayette.  Mr. Furr formerly worked in construction and maintenance at National Homes in Lafayette for 35 years and for the Nickel Plate Railroad. Born at Steam Corner in Fountain County Aug 9, 1924, he attended Attica HS and lived in West Point near Newtown before moving to Clarks Hill in 1978.  He married Norma M. Snodgrass on June 30, 1946 in Attica.  Mr. Furr attended Clarks Hill United Methodist Church and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. An Army Veteran of WWII, he served in the European theater and saw action in the Battle of the Bulge.  Surviving are his wife; two sons, Sandy Furr of Clarks Hill and Gary Furr of Frankfort; four brothers, Don Furr of Attica; Kenneth Furr of Covington; Bill Furr of Waynetown and Gene Furr of Danville, Ill and four sisters, Mrs. Kate Keller of Lafayette; Mrs. Claudine Weber of Veedersburg, Mrs. Margaret Austin of Mellott and Mrs. Florence Epperson of Auburndale, Fla.

“Funeral Notices: - Friends may be received at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday with the funeral service at 8 p.m. the Rev. Richard Cart officiating. Interment with military graveside rites 10 a.m. Wednesday Newtown Ind cemetery.  Ten grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren survive.  Two sons, a daughter, 2 sisters, a brother and a grandson preceded him in death.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation of American Heart Association.
