Harold Gene Furr, 73, 401 N Parke avenue, Hillsboro died Monday Dec 9, 1996 at 4:13 a.m. in the Roudebush VA Hospital in Indianapolis. Born in Veedersburg on Dec 21, 1922 he was the son of Leslie and Carolyn Gebhart Cornelison Furr. He was raised in Hillsboro and was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. Mr. Furr made a career in the US Army, entering in 1944 and returning ub 196 after 26 years of service. While in the US Army, he served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam wars. During the Vietnam conflict, he had served with the Green Beret Services. He was a member of the Montgomery County VFW Post 1431 and Byron Cox American Legion Post #72 of Crawfordsville. Mr. Furr was married to Oletta M McManony on Dec 22, 1941 in Eldorado, Kan. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Larry G. Furr, at Arcadia, Fla; and Paul V. Furr of Ft. Worth, Texas; two daughters Mrs. Steve (Lisa) Fox, Rochester, NY; and Mrs. Kenny (Kim) Kinderman, Veedersburg two half brothers, Brooks D. Hibbitt of Mellott 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Friends may call at Maus-Funeral Home Hillsboro on Thursday from noon until 2 p.m. Military graveside services will be held at Rockfield Cemetery, Veedersburg. With Rev. David Frazeur and Byron Cox American Legion Post #72 officiating at 2:30 p.m. –-- kbz
