Everett Robert Furr, 85, formerly of Mellott and Hillsboro, died Sunday, April 14, 1996 at 5:35 a.m. in United Samaritan Medical Center, Danville, Ill. He had been in ill health for the past two years. Born at Steam Corner in Fountain County on March 28, 1911, he was the son of Luke and Georgia (Fleming) Furr. He was raised in Steam Corner and attended school there. He had lived in the Hillsboro and Mellott area and had farmed for area farmers. He later lived in Rockville and the Montezuma area in Parke County. He had attended church in Mellott. Mr. Furr was married on May 15, 1935 in Covington to Helen M. Abernathy. Surviving, are: his former wife, Helen of Rockville; three sons, Sidney Furr of Rockville, Ralph Furr of Loveland, Colo., and Danny Leroy Furr of Montezuma; two daughters, Pat Vogus of Greenfield, Wisc. and Vera Nall of Crawfordsville; one step son, David Atternbury of Montezuma; five brothers, Don Furr of Newtown, Kenneth Furr of Covington, Leroy Furr of Lafayette, Bill Furr of Waynetown, and Gene Furr of Danville, Ill; four sisters, Kate Keller of Lafayette, Claudine Weber of Veedersburg, Margaret Austin of Mellott and Florence Epperson of Florida; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one son, Arnold Ray Furr, and two sisters. Visitation was Wednesday prior to service at 2 p.m. at Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Rev. Paul Kent officiated. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery. – jlr
