In the finishing room of the Crawfordsville Casket plant Friday a handsome casket constructed from a native cherry tree was hauled from beneath a protecting cover and was taken to Wingate to fill an order place 9 years ago. Jacob FULWIDER, 75 year old farmer who died Wednesday night of last week, then lay in the casket of his choosing. Nine years ago he decided that when death should finally come, he would take to his final sleep in a casket constructed as he desire. From the native trees on his property, a wild cheery tree had been hewn and cut up into lumber. In May of 1916, Mr. Fulwider hauled the lumber to the Crawfordsville Casket Company and placed his order for the casket in which he some time would rest forever. Mr. Fulwider looked over the caskets in the stock room of the factory and chose a design which suited him. The casket was constructed according to the owner's orders in the couch model. With the exception of the interior the casket was completed and taken to the finishing room to be varnished and stained. Mr. Fulwider approved the work and ordered that it be held until called for. There it was left to await the owner's death. The advice that Jacob Fulwider was ready for his casket came to the Crawfordsville plant Thursday. When taken from beneath the covering placed over it 9 years ago the casket was as beautiful as when its construction was completed. Word of Mr. Fulwider's death found his casket ready with the exception of the interior made lining which was put in place. Then Jacob Fulwider's casket was taken home to him.
