Covington – Sgt. James Frederick, age about 27, husband of the former Sandy Schwin, niece of Miss Sara Schwin of Covington and Mrs. Robert Burgner of Veedersburg was killed Sunday Nov 19 in action in the Dak To area in Vietnam according to word received Saturday night.  On Thanksgiving Day, the family was notified that he was Missing In Action and Saturday evening received official notice of his death.  The young man, a platoon leader and paratrooper had gone to Vietnam from Ft. Benning, GA on Oct 1.  He was making the Army service his career and had previously served a tour of duty in Germany where his first son, Michael (Biff) Frederick was born six years ago.  He was a native of Florida, residing near Ft. Lauderdale where he met his wife, Sandy, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Schwin of Deerfield Beach, Fla.  Surviving in addition to the wife are two sons, Michael and Bradley, age 3 who reside at Ft. Benning and his parents of Florida. The body will be returned to the US for final rites and burial.  – kbz
