Williamsport—Jacob William Fox, 96, 304 Thomas St., Williamsport, died at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 1989 at Veterans Administration Hospital, Danville, Ill., having been seriously ill the past six weeks.
He was born Nov. 26, 1892 at Claytonville, Ill., the son of George I. and Ollie Scott Fox. He had formerly lived north of Pence for about 30 years and had been a resident of Williamsport for more than 30 years. He was married May 23, 1928 in Kankakee, Ill., to Effie Fisher McHaffey, who preceded him in death Nov. 24, 1965.
He attended school at Gilman, Ill., and was a lifelong farmer in the Warren County area. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the Army.
He was a member of Williamsport Christian Church; woodsman Lodge; American Legion Post 259, Williamsport, and Masonic Lodge 352, West Lebanon.
Surviving are one son, Glen Jacob, Stafford, Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Eileen) Yater, Greencastle; one stepson, Dwayne McHaffey, Joplin, Mo.; one sister, Adah Stephens, Bradenton, Fla.; three nephews, Donald Fox and Robert Fox, Williamsport, and Kenneth Fox, Route 3, Williamsport, seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today in Maus Funeral Home Chapel, Attica, with the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Danville, Ill. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Thursday. – thanks to S
