Max Ned Fortner, 34, of Rockville, brother of Wayne Fortner of Veedersburg, was killed when a power pole on which he was working snapped and fell 50 feet to the ground.
The tragedy occurred south of New Goshen. Mr. Fortner was a lineman for the Marson High Line Construction Co.
Mr. Fortner was born April 1, 1924 in Newport, the son of Ralph and Gertha Miller Fortner. He was married December 3, 1949 to Elizabeth Onley, who survives.
Also surviving are two step-children, Bobby and Diana Fender; the mother who resides in Newport; the father of Perrysville; four brothers, Wayne and Dale of Danville, Indiana and Donald and Marvin of Newport and a sister, Imogene Hollingsworth of Newport.
Services were held Sunday with burial in Thomas Cemetery. - jz
