George Foley, 13-year-old son of Gail W. Foley, was instantly killed last night about 6 o'clock by a south bound CCE & I passenger train. The lad, with his younger brother, Charles was standing on the railroad tracks near where the Wabash RR crosses the CCE&I overhead, and they were watching Wabash train NO. 53 west bound. The noise of the train prevented them hearing the approaching train of the CCE&I. There is a curve at this point and the engineer failed to see the boys until he was within about 10' of them. Then he blew his whistle but he was too late. Charles realized the danger more quickly and jumped but his brother was struck by the train and thrown into the weeds near the tracks. The engineer stopped his train immediately and went back and there he found Charles by the boy's side examining his pulse. His neck was broken and his skull cracked on the right side. The body was brought to Attica and taken to the Coffing Undertaking parlors and prepared for burial. The body was taken to the home later. The funeral arrangements have not been made. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and was to have taken part in the Memorial day exercises this afternoon.
