VEEDERSBURG -- Mrs. Maude Fleming, 69, a resident of the Stone Bluff neighborhood since she was 6, died at 1 p.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth hospital at Danville, Ill., where she had been a patient two weeks. She was born in Wingate June 1, 1889, to the late James and Susan Cline Sutton. Thirty-seven year ago she married Hermy Fleming, who survives with a son, John of Oxford, Ind.; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Blanch Frazee of Veedersburg, Mrs. Marie Clark of Covington and Miss Flossie Sutton of Lafayette, and a brother, Rex Sutton of Lafayette. A daughter, Mildred, preceded Mrs. Fleming in death. Friends may call after noon Saturday at the J. Fred Parham Funeral Home, and services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Stone Bluff EUB Church of which the deceased had been a member since early childhood. Rev. Conley Rowland will officiate and burial will be in Osborne Prairie Cemetery.  --typed by Walt W

Mrs. Maude Fleming, 69, of Stone Bluff, Indiana, died Friday afternoon in the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville where she had been a patient two weeks.
Born June 1, 1889 in Wingate, she was the daughter of James and Susan Kline Sutton.  She married Hermy Fleming in 1926.
Mrs. Fleming lived most of her life at Stone Bluff, moving there when she was six years old.
She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Surviving are the husband; a son, John of Oxford, Indiana; three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Frazee of Veedersburg, Mrs. Marie Clark ; of Covington and Miss Flossie Sutton of Lafayette; a brother, Rex of Lafayette, and three grandchildren.
A daughter, Mildred, preceded her in death,
Services were held Sunday at tho Stone Bluff E.U.B. Church with the Rev. Conley Rowland officiating.  Burial was in Osborn Prairie Cemetery with the Parham Funeral Home in charge.  - jz

Maude Fleming, daughter of James and Susan Cline Sutton, was born on June 1st, 1889 at Wingate, Indiana.  When six years of age, she moved with her parents to Stone Bluff,  spending the remainder of her life there.
On March 4th, 1922, she was united in marriage to Hermy Fleming of West Point, Indiana.  The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Bitner, former pastor of the Stone Bluff E.U.B. Church at Waynetown, Indiana.
Two children were born to this union, a daughter, Mildred, who passed away one year ago, and a son, John, of Oxford, Indiana who survives.
Other survivors besides the husband and son, are three grandchildren, Mike, Nancy and Scott Fleming; three sisters, Blanch  Frazee of Veedersburg, Marie Clark of Covington, and Flossie Sutton of Lafayette and one brother, Rex Sutton of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her daughter and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Sutton.
At an early age, she united with the Stone Bluff E.U.B. Church at Stone Bluff where she was a regular attendant for more
than fifty years.  She was also a member of the Missionary Society and the Ladies Aid Society, helping in all work of the church as long as health permitted.  Although in failing health for more than a year, she remained active until November 28th when she entered St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, for medical treatment for one week, returning to her home for a short time and again entered the hospital where her condition gradually grew worse and where she passed away on December
19th.  She was 69 years of age.
Funeral services were held at the Stone Bluff E.U.B. Church on Sunday, December 21st, with the Rev. Rowland conducting the services.  Burial was in Osborn Prairie Cemetery.  - jz
