COVINGTON — Mrs. Maude Ellen Fitzgerald, 67, of Covington, was fatally stricken Sunday afternoon while visiting in Mattoon, Ill. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a member of St. John United Methodist Church at Winter Haven, Fla. She had been a real estate broker in Florida for 16 years. She resided in Covington 1943-56 and in Polk County, Fla., until returning in 1973. She was born Sept. 28, 1907, at Villa Grove, Ill., a daughter of Joney R. and Elma Shafer Davis. She married John Charles Fitzgerald on Dec. 5, 1928. He died March 1, 1954. There are no immediate survivors. The funeral will be at 1: 30 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church at Covington with the Rev. Robert H. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Maud Ellen Fitzgerald, 68, of Covington, died at 1:21 p.m., Monday, September 1, at the Mattoon Memorial Hospital in Mattoon, Ill., while she was there in Mattoon visiting friends. Her death was unexpected.
  She was born Sept. 28, 1907 in Villa Grove, Ill., the daughter of Joney R. Davis and Elma Shafer. She was married to John Charles Fitzgerald on Dec. 5, 1928. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1954. There are no survivors. She was a graduate of Champaign High School, Champaign, Ill., and a former resident of Champaign County. She resided in Covington from 1943 to 1956, and then moved to Florida where she lived until 1973, at which time she then returned to Covington. She was a real estate broker in Florida for 16 years.  She was a member of the St. John Methodist Church in Florida, the Troy Chapter of Eastern Star, and the White Shrine of Lafayette.   Friends will be received at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Covington on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev.
