With the passing of Harry C. Fishero, for 52 years a funeral director, the Veedersburg community has lost a highly respected citizen and a man who has served in an efficient and kindly manner those who cam to him
from all walks of life. Seldom it is that four generations of one family follow the same occupation as did the Fisheros. Harry represented the third generation of funeral directors in his family. For more than 100 years the Fishero Funeral Home has served Veedersburg. It was founded by John C. Fishero (Feb 12, 1816 -- Jan 11, 1904). Following in his footsteps was his son, Thomas (Sept 23, 1848 - Dec 1, 1919). From the time he was a boy, Harry Fishero was interested in his work, and at the death of his father he took over the business. Representing the four generation is Charles E. Fishero, now coroner of Fountain County, who
will continue to serve his home community in the traditional manner of his ancestors. During this century of service by the Fishero family there have been many changes - from the horse drawn hearse over rough,
muddy roads, to the modern motor car and smooth pavement; and these changes have been accompanied by improvements in methods and in laws which govern the work. In addition to his deep interest in his calling, Mr. Fishero found time for participation in church, civic and lodge affairs, and his love for his home and family was deep. Evidence of the high esteem in which he was held may be seen in the many beautiful
floral tributes presented, the large number of friends who attended the funeral services and in the fact that all business houses of Veedersburg closed in honor of the man who had lived his life span of 73 years in
the community --- kbz
