MARY ELLEN FINE DIES. Mrs. Mary E. Fine passed away Friday morning at her home in Crawfordsville, after having been ill since January first. Mrs. Fine was 88 years of age and had lived in Crawfordsville for several years past. Previous to that time she had been a resident of Veedersburg and Fountain county. Mrs. Fine was born near Wallace in Fountain county, Indiana, on January 14 1845. On March 12 1863, she was married to Levi F. Myers of the same community. Mr Myers died November 17 1864, leaving surviving his widow and their son, Byron F Myers, who now resides near Steam Corner, south of Veedersburg. She continued to reside in the same community except for a brief period spent in St. Paul, Minn., until May 8 1873, when she married Dr. E. M. Fine, who then was beginning the practice of medicine at Steam Corner, at which place they reside until 1892, when they moved to Veedersburg, where Dr. Fine continued the practice of medicine until his death on May 17 1903. Two children were born of this marriage: Effie P. Fine, who died in infancy, and Harry N. Fine, now of Crawfordsville. Soon after the death of Dr. Fine, Mrs. Fine moved to Crawfordsville, where she has since resided. When a young girl, she became a member of the Lutheran church, located near Wallace and after her removal to Veedersburg she placed her membership in the Presbyterian church, and upon removal to Crawfordsville she became a member of Center church, now the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her two sons, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted at the Lutheran church near Wallace at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, and burial was made in the Cemetery adjoining the church. Rev. Melvin V. Oggel, pastor of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian church of Crawfordsville, had charge of the services. Mrs. Fine was a splendid woman and worthy of the high respect she enjoyed throughout her entire lifetime. [Note from KZ- she was Mary Ellen Sowers d/o Henrich & Barbara Grimes Sowers.]
