Archie Howard Fields, age 63, 521 Fourth St., died unexpectedly at 5 p. m. Friday, July 28, while enroute to a Danville, Ill., hospital for a checkup. He was being driven to Danville by his wife when he suddenly slumped over and died. Mr. Fields was born July 31, 1897 in Warren County, the son of John L. and Rachel Henderson Fields. He was married Dec. 26, 1928 to Wilma Graham, who survives. He had lived in Warren County most of his life, moving to Covington in 1951. He was a farmer and had planned to retire next year. He was a member of Mound Lodge No. 274, F. & A. M., of State Line, Danville Consistory, and the Benson Chapel Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War I and served in the Army. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are: two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Mallett of Danville Rt. 5, and Mrs. Ida Hacker of Logansport; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. George F. Beatty officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery here. Masonic rites were conducted at the graveside by Mound Lodge No. 274. Pallbearers were: Orrin Parish, Jay Spring, Verlon Hoskins, Russell Elliot, Lawrence Vickery and Russell Patton. -- typed by Walt W
