Veedersburg – Dr. Royse D. Ferguson, age 67, well known Doctor of Chiropractics throughout this area died at noon Sunday July 30 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill where he had been a patient one week.  He had been ill six months.  Dr. Ferguson was born Jan 15, 1900 in Knox County, Ind the son of George and Lena Messel Ferguson.  He had served in the US Navy during WWI and II.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Lodge, American Legion Post 288 of Veedersburg, the Indiana Chiropractic Association of which he was a past president and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Covington.  He was a former barber and had graduated from the Louisville Barber College.  He also attended Vincennes University and had taught school in South Dakota for five years.  Later he graduated from the Palmer School of Chiropractics in Danvenport, Iowa.  He had practiced his profession in Veedersburg since World War II.  Dr. Ferguson is survived by his mother of Veedersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred Woodworth of Indianapolis and Mrs. Myra Harper and Mrs. Naomi Hanna, both of Danville, Ill; one brother, Herbert Ferguson of Veedersburg.  He was preceded in death by his father.  Rosary was recited at Parham Funeral Home here Tuesday night. Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Church in Covington.  Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery there. – kbz
