Attica, Ind., July 19—Miss Mollie Rice found her grandmother, Mrs. Hannah Ferguson, bending over a washtub, cold in death. Her hands were clasping the edge of the vessel, as if she had attempted to prevent herself from falling and the grip was so strong that the dead body remained upright. Mrs. Ferguson was 80 years old, and it was her boast that she could do as much work as when she was 50. Her granddaughter lived with her and begged her not to exert herself because of the extreme heat, but Mrs. Ferguson replied that she was feeling remarkably well, and she made light of the task.
