George Washington Ferguson, 86, retired farmer and store operator, died Saturday at his home in Veedersburg.
Born July 30, 1873, in Knox County, Indiana, he was the son of George and Elizabeth Carey Ferguson. He married Lena Messel April 29, 1895.
Surviving are the wife; five children, Dr. Royce D. Ferguson, Mrs. Myra Harper, and Herbert A. Ferguson of Veedersburg, Mrs. Mildred Woodworth of Greenfield, Indiana and Mrs. Naomi Hanna of Covington; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and a half sister, Mrs. John Cardinal of Bicknell, Indiana.
Nine children, one sister and one brother preceded him in death.
A member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Covington, he moved to Fountain County in 1921 and farmed two miles south of Layton Station.
Services were held at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Church with the Rev. Peter B. Crelly officiating. Burial was in St.
Joseph's Cemetery. - jz
