A friend has passed. What higher tribute could one offer than to call him friend? What keener sense of loss could one realize than that a friend has gone forever from our human vision. A gentle man, two words please, and a gentleman both describe Mont Faust, who was familiary to the Covington scene for most of his lifetime, including the fifty years he was a practicing dentist until retirement. He was a friend to his many patients and, as well, to everyone in Covington whom he knew and others beyond that city. Montie was a modest man as a gentle one would be sure to be a quiet man, his words were friendly, their import and tone were directed away from self, the facial expression was smiling or nearly so. Judging by outward indications, his thoughts were above the average level. He supported the better things in human life and believed in the divine life. He was a religious person, but unobtrusively. Few people outside of his family or closest familiars could have guessed his politics. The writer knew him in youth socially, and renewed our acquaintance in recent years. Montie was a successful man as the world measures success but the inner man was on a higher level — he was a gentle one.  --typed by Walt W

Dr. Mont C. Faust, age 77, of 715 Fifth St., Covington, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at the Danville Care Nursing Home where he had been a patient for four days in Danville, Ill. He had been in ill health for about two years. Dr. Faust practiced dentistry in Covington for more than 50 years and he had retired from active practice in 1961. He was a graduate of the Indiana University Dental School. He had served on both state and national boards of the Guernsey Association and he had been a breeder of Guernsey cattle 20 years. He was born June 21, 1880 in Montgomery County, the son of Lee R. and Martha Stewart Faust. He was married June 25, 1914 to Ethel Von Berg, who preceded him in death in April 1964. Dr. Faust was a member of Fountain Lodge 60, F&AM, of Covington, and Indiana Dental Society and the First Church of Christ, Fifth St. Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Charles F. (Virginia) Frey and Mrs. James B. (Martha) Wallace; one brother, L. Guy Faust; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, most of them residing in Covington. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and an infant son. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Sunday at the Hegg Funeral Home, Covington. The Rev. Donald Ashley, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Covington, officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington.  --typed by Walt W
